Mary E. Loumeau

Mary is a Norfolk, Virginia local who graduated from James Madison University with a BBA in International Business. She has lived and worked in Washington, DC, San Francisco, and in New York City and has returned home to be closer to family and friends.

Mary began her Pilates training in San Francisco, and was hooked—mainly because of how her body changed, her abs and her posture improved tremendously, and she just felt great after each Pilates session. She auditioned and was accepted into the Intensive 600-hour training program at Power Pilates in New York City. She moved to Virginia and opened Pilates Central LLC in Downtown Norfolk. Pilates Central is the first studio who opened on Granby Street in Downtown Norfolk. She was featured in an article in the April 2004 issue of the magazine, Marie Claire. Mary taught for both Power Pilates and Equinox Fitness Clubs in New York and Long Island.

Her passion for Pilates is constantly renewed and rejuvenated through her clients improvements in strength and flexibility and their achievements in their personal goals.

Mary has learned to enjoy running and has completed the Army 10-Miler and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC, and enjoys running in the local Shamrock 8K and Rock-n-Roll Half Marathons at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.

Michael Loumeau
State License: Physical Therapist
Pilates Certification: Polestar, Miami, Florida
Personal Training Certification: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)

Michael is a Physical Therapist and works full-time for Sentara. He is also a graduate of James Madison University and received his Masters Degree at Boston University for Physical Therapy. Michael is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) through the Medical College of Virginia (MCV) at the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, VA. He completed a residency in manual therapy at Kaiser Permanente in Hayward, CA, and is pursuing additional manual therapy training and certification.

Michael is also a Certified Pilates Instructor through Polestar in Miami, Florida. He uses rehab-based Pilates, manual therapy, and treatment of clients with back injuries, shoulder problems, muscular imbalances and osteoporosis. In addition, he is certified in Functional Capacity Evaluation and treats patients with work-related injuries.

Michael has been a long-time runner and has recently competed in triathlons. He recently completed the Ford Ironman Lake Placid competition this past July 22, 2007.

Ellena Millar
Pilates Certification: Power Pilates, Annapolis, Maryland; PhysicalMind Institute, Charlottesville, VA; Washington D.C.

Ellena Millar moved to the Tidewater area with her family and pursued a BS in Computer Science and a Minor in Dance at Old Dominion University. She was first introduced to Pilates by one of her dance teachers who has studied with Romana Kryzanowska and fell in love with the classical Pilates method. She was inspired by the changes she saw in her own body and decided to pursue a career in teaching Pilates. After being certified by PhysicalMind Institute, she decided to continue her studies in the classical Pilates method with Power Pilates while teaching at a local studio in Norfolk, VA. She completed her intensive training with Power Pilates in Annapolis, MD and continues to teach at Pilates Central. She is committed to keeping the classical method alive and spreading Pilates’ benefits to local communities. She is constantly inspired by the transformation of her clients’ body and spirit through Pilates method.

Sara Krahnke
Pilates Certification: Power Pilates, Cary, North Carolina

Sara is a North Carolina native who graduated from NC State University with a B.S. in Middle Grades Education. She became intrigued with the classical Pilates style of Power Pilates in college after witnessing the remarkable results it has had for her mother. Shortly after Sara and her husband moved to Chesapeake, she was accepted into the Power Pilates intensive 600-Hour Training Program. She began her apprenticeship for the program at Triangle Pilates in Cary, NC and she was soon teaching classes there as well as classes for off-site corporate clients. Sara is delighted to continue her teaching experience at Pilates Central in Norfolk. With extensive experience in ballet and yoga, Sara has a sincere passion for the benefits of movement and is committed to sharing that passion through teaching Pilates.
